Skills addressed:

  • Move the cursor (hand) to a specific place and click or tap with pointer finger
  • Move the cursor (hand) to a specific place and double click with pointer finger
  • Move the cursor (hand) to a specific place and right click with two finger tap
  • Click and drag with correct hand position with either one or two hands
  • Swipe in any direction to learn to scroll or swipe
  • Practice on full sheets of paper and then on individual trackpad practice mats in real size

Why you need this:

Save your sanity and teach your students touchpad gestures before expecting them to be able to work on the computer. Prep once and keep using the work mats forever. If you teach PreK, start with them and then review each year in Kindergarten and First grade. The work mats do not require being able to read as long as an adult lets the students know which shapes to look for on the clicking pages.

  1. Buyer (verified owner)

My school is one to one with Chromebooks and they are not touch screens. Trackpad activities, such as this, that are no prep and easy to assign through Google Classroom are perfect. Thank you.

  2. Michelle Z. (verified owner)

I used this as a training exercise for the students before utilizing laptops in the classroom. It helped them learn how to use the trackpad on their computers so they could be well prepared to work independently on the laptops.

  3. Jennifer H. (verified owner)

Love that it is fall themed for the younger students. We have used this in the computer lab and it has been such a great resouce in assisting the kindergarteners with using the mouse.

  4. Robin W. (verified owner)

This was a great activity for my littles. I used with a mouse and keypad for practice at the begining of the year with the students.

  5. Marilyn A. (verified owner)

I teach middle school, but have several “special” students that need help with using the mouse. This was perfect for helping them develop those skills. After they complete the slides I reset them back to the original version for them to practice again.
