Key Idea: What a Search Engine Does

  • Online search means looking for information on the internet.
  • A search engine is a tool that finds results based on what you type.
  • It shows a list of results it thinks match your words.
  • Different search engines can show different results.

  • You type words into a search box or address bar.
  • Your words tell the search engine what you want to find.
  • Then you press Enter (or click the search button) to see results.
  • You can click a result to learn more.
